Pakistan got off on the wrong foot after Australia won the toss and invited them to bat. In 4.2 overs Pakistan was 25/2 with opener Ahmed Shehzad (5) and Captain Mohammad Hafeez (13) out after both played impetuous strokes. Auspiciously for Pakistan Akmal brothers, Kamran and Umar kept their chin up and batted team out of woe.
Akmal brothers added 96 runs off 52 balls for the 3rd wicket and stroked ceaselessly around the park, both the brothers enjoyed their luck as Australia missed some chances to stop them, going for the kill Kamran Akmal (31) lost his wicket.
Sohaib Maqsood (5) was promoted up the order but he could not deliver and was cleaned bowled thus giving Coulter Nile his second wicket who finished with 4-0-36-2.
Stage was all set for Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi as the duo went all guns blazing, Umar Akmal with bravura scored 94 off 54 balls, his innings included nine 4s and four 6s. After Umar’s dismissal Afridi kept going and remained unbeaten on 20 off 11 balls and Pakistan finished on 191/5
Doug Bollinger who made his come back to Australian team finished with impressive stats of 4-0-28-1. Shane Watson and Mitchell Starc also picked one wicket each.
