Explosive batsman, also known for his humorous jibes, Virender Sehwag did not miss the opportunity to take a shot at fellow commentator and Pakistan’s erstwhile pacer Shoaib Akhtar. Recalling the string of losses Pakistan has suffered at the hands of India, especially in cricket tournaments, Sehwag tagged Akhtar in a tweet highlighting the crushing defeat of Pakistan against India in Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup. To further agitate the former Pakistani cricketer, Sehwag said, “Sorry Shoaib bhai, hockey mei bhi mauka haath se nikal gaya (brother you lost the opportunity in hockey as well).

The mauka jibe was raked up against Pakistan during the 2015 World Cup. The joke is factually validated as Pakistan has never defeated India in any form of cricket world cup. The mauka jokes resurfaced during the 2016 ICC World T20 match between India and Pakistan. (ALSO READ: India thrash Pakistan 5-1 in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2016)

While they were present on commentary set together in Twenty20 World Cup tournament, both used to joke on that matter. During the India-Pakistan match, Sehwag did not shy away from making the same joke on live broadcast.

In the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup, the high voltage India vs Pakistan match was played today. Led by Sardar Singh, the Indian side completely outmatch Mohammed Irfan’s boys. The lacklustre performance by Pakistani team in the coveted hockey cup comes in the backdrop of a poor show made by the Pakistani cricket team in the recently held ICC World T20 in India.
