As soon as it was announced that MS Dhoni would lead India A against England in practice match the interest of the fans grew. And then Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) gave fans a gift by announcing a free entry into the venue- Brabourne Stadium.

With a capacity of close to 25,000, it was on the cards that the stadium would be jam-packed and fans will be itching to catch a glimpse of Dhoni leading in India colours for one last time. And that is exactly what happened.

People thronged the stadium in large numbers, and the scenes were such that one could not believe it was just a warm-up match. Winning the toss, England put India A to bat as the crowd waited in anticipation to see Dhoni with the bat in hand. Much to the disappointment of fans, Dhoni did not come out to bat. It was Ambati Rayudu who came in at number three. Fans had to wait further as even after Shikhar Dhawan’s dismissal MSD did not walk to the middle.

Fans were eventually treated to MSD special as the right-hander slammed 40-ball 68. Dhoni smashed eight fours and two sixes as he took his side past the 300-run mark. The last over of India A innings fetched 23 runs, all of which came off Dhoni’s bat. Chris Woakes was the bowler at the receiving end.
