Wimbledon 2014, Day 9: Top matches to look out for on Wednesday, 2nd July

The Day Nine of Wimbledon Championship 2014 would see the men’s singles quarter-final matches taking place with only the surprise exclusion of second seed Rafael Nadal. Among the top four seeds in the men’s singles, No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal did not make to the quarters after being outclassed by Aussie teenager Nick Kyrgios in thr fourth round. Kyrgios would next face another young talent from Canada Milos Raonic for a place in the last four. Raonic defeated tenth seed Kei Nishikori. In the other quarter-final matches No. 4 seed Roger Federer will battle fellow country man and No. 5 seed Stan Wawrinka from Switzerland to advance to semis. Defending champion and No. 3 seed Andy Murray from Great Britain will play Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov while top seed Novak Djokovic will face Marin Cilic from Croatia.

In the ladies’ singles remaining two quarter-final matches will be played.  It will feature the highest seed remaining in the women’s singles draw, No. 3 seed Simona Halep from Romania taking on last year finalist Sabine Lisicki while the other match would feature Eugenie Bouchard and Angelique Kerber battle.
