Hello and welcome to India.com’s coverage of Wimbledon 2017 Men’s Singles Final between Roger Federer vs Marin Cilic. Federer will be chasing his record eighth Wimbledon title. Seven-time Wimbledon champion, Federer, defeated Czech Tomas Berdych 7-6(4), 7-6(4) 6-4 in the semi-final contest that lasted for two hours and 18 minutes to enter the summit clash. Cilic, who is a 2014 US Open champion, will be looking to add second Grand Slam title against his name. Interestingly, no one outside the ‘big four’ of Federer, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic has won the Wimbledon in last 15 years. And if Cilic does so it will be a big achievement.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Federer, is the second oldest Wimbledon finalist after Ken Rosewall who finished runner-up in 1974 at the age of 39. The veteran will be hoping to make it eight titles.

These two players have met each other seven times with Federer apparently leading the head to head record 6-1. Federer is yet to drop a set at Wimbledon this year and things won’t be easy for Cilic to create an upset. Fans will be hoping that the 35-year-old continues weaving his magic at the All England club.
