India’s young wrestler Vinesh brought consecutive gold medal in wrestling after Amit Kumar bagged gold in the Men’s 57 kg category. She defeated England’s Yana Rattingan in the gold medal match of women’s free style 48kg category. Vinesh helped India move up in the medal table as they replaced South Africa from the 5th rank. India are now well placed in top 5 with 9 gold, 15 silver and 9 bronze taking the medal tally to 33. Amit Kumar defeated Ebikweminomo Welson from Nigeria in the gold medal match.
Vinesh leading 6-2 in the end of first period looked composed in her final match. She looked stronger and aggressive as she extended the lead to 8-6 in the second period of the match.She completely impressed with her approach. England’s Rettigan did good to make a comeback with 8-6 but Vinesh also got point lead to 11-8.

Rajeev Tomar will feature in the finals of the 125kg wrestling category. Sushil Kumar also assures a medal for India as he faces Pakistan’s Qamar Abbas of Pakistan in the final for the gold medal in 74 kg category. Follow all the action as the event is hopeful of lifting Sushil Kumar to new heights of popularity.
