19-year-old Gurmehar Kaur is inspiring a whole lot of people in India and Pakistan by coming up with a for the profile for peace campaign. The youngster is trying to reach out to the leaders of both India and Pakistan with this quite yet impactful video. Gurmehar Kaur lost her father Captain Mandeep Singh in the 1999 Kargil War when she was just two-years-old. Although she does not have many memories growing up with her father, but she spent her childhood with a whole lot of memories of growing up without a father.
In this video Gurmehar uses some 30 English placards to convey her message of peace. She starts with her life story, and holds up the placard one after the other conveying her message in a strong way. She confesses how she grew up hating Muslims and how the poor little Kaur had misconceptions about her father’s death when she tried to stab a woman in Burkha. If you thought this is yet another India vs Pakistan video, you are wrong.
Little Kaur has now grown up and she is brave enough to share this beautiful message of peace and love with her neighboring country. Gurmehar Kaur lost her father not to the Pakistanis but to war. She is pleading the government and leaders of both the countries to not sponsor war and hate, not to choose propaganda and hatred over reason. She ends the video with a heart touching message that reads: Enough state-sponsored terrorism, enough state sponsored spies, enough state sponsored hatred. Enough is enough!
Gurmeet says, “I wish to live in a world where there are no Gurmehar Kaurs who miss their dad.#ProfileForPeace.” The video produced by Ram Subramanian was shared on Facebook page Voice of Ram and is being shared largely by people on social media, if you have not yet seen the video, you can watch it here.
