Cute little Prince George visits the zoo: Watch the adorable video!

A royal visit for a royal baby, indeed! One little boy was beyond excited as his very famous parents took him to a zoo.

Prince William and his wife, the beautiful Kate, took the toddler to Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, where he was eager to get friendly with any animal that he could find. The royal family visited the zoo, since they had an enclosure with an animal named after the boy.

And what was the animal? It was a bilby, also called George. When the family reached the enclosure, William and Kate took turns to hold George while they interacted with the animal. The marsupial, which resembled a rat and a rabbit, looked a little timid at first, but began slowly moving around. And that got baby George even more excited – he even tried to climb into the enclosure and be with his animal namesake.

As the baby reached out for the bilby, his mother told the keeper that he was trying to grab onto its ear, and when the keeper encouraged George to do so, Kate cautioned that he would grab it strongly. Later, the zookeeper, named Paul Davies, who showed the family around, said that George’s parents had decided that they did not want him touching the bilby, since “they said it wouldn’t be fair on the bilby.”

Nevertheless, the boy was extremely excited during the visit. Dressed in a shirt and shorts, he was carried around as he tried to catch a hold of every animal he saw. He also saw a female bilby named Yajala, who was to mate with bilby George.

Davies also said that showing the royal family around was just like interacting with any other family, because like other babies, George was lively but had a short attention span. He was quoted saying that the royal baby “was lovely”. At the end of the zoo tour, the royal couple unveiled a plaque. It said:

A national gift from the Commonwealth Government to commemorate the birth of His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

Then the zoo’s director gave a speech, and then gifted George with a stuffed toy bilby, and a yellow car sticker which he tried to chew on. He then proceeded to throw the toy away, and the crowd broke into laughter. In his speech, the director said that he hoped the royal visit would shed light on efforts to conserve the native animals, especially bilbies – which have now been driven to extinction. By visiting the zoo and spending time with the bilby, the royal family had helped the species gain attention.

Later, George was handed over to his nanny, and the couple then saw some more animals and birds. They were exclusively invited to meet a koala bear, Leuca. When the keeper introduced the animal to William and Kate, Leuca was well-behaved, but Kate flinched at the strong smell of eucalyptus in its fur.

All in all, a wonderful royal visit to the zoo, with a gorgeous and excited little prince!
