Indian TV censorship explained by East India Comedy
Watch a Hollywood film on TV and then watch it online to see how much is unnecessarily chopped off in the name of censorship.
With no disrespect meant to Pahlaj Nihalani or the censor board officials for TV and film, East India Comedy has made a video on you-know-what. Censorship is a problem for free thinking in India. There are moderators who take it upon themselves to save the modesty of Indians. The sense of modesty is the craziest according to the TV shows.
There was a complaint against Star World India for showing a homosexual scene in Grey’s Anatomy. According to EIC, Grey’s Anatomy is like Sanjivani with white people. Child marriage and misogyny is rampant and showcased as if that’s the right way to go for society while homosexuality is seen as a heinous crime. Female characters getting slapped by male characters is shown too often to be ignored. [Also Watch: Think Indian censorship of the future will be like this?]
And you guessed it right, there were no complains made against showing a minor girl who has been forcefully married. The little girl wearing a saree and cutting vegetables is considered to be cute rather than the act of stealing her childhood away. Moving on to words being changed with inappropriate alternatives. How does censoring the word ‘sex’ as in sexual intercourse and changing it to say gender even make sense? The censorship is questionable at best but the replacement of the word should encompass the original meaning. You know it’s this bad because some under qualified idiot opened the thesaurus and selected a random word for the subtitles. For more outrage on how censorship spoils the content altogether, check out the video below.
