This video of Maggi Noodles masala catching fire and bursting is going viral and we wonder if Maggi is in trouble once again!

Maggi noodles is just out of one controversy and is back on shelves when this video of the taste-maker started going viral. Albeit one year old, the video has begun to trend and gone viral recently with over 12500 shares on Facebook and other social media channels! The video shows a man taking a pack of noodles, removing the taste-maker from inside, taking the powder in a bowl and setting fire to it. The text beneath the video only says – Simple test to identify noodles masala ….Please share as much as you can. However, there is no mention of exactly what test it is or what is trying to be proved through the video. But then thansk to the year old video the Maggi controversy is back.

Many are sharing the video and calling out India’s favourite noodle brand – Maggi for using unsafe powder. Apparently, since the masala powder caught fire, it is extremely unsafe to eat and full of chemicals. Many are still labelling Maggi as an unsafe brand and are calling for tests to be conducted again. A deceptively simple experiment, the video is going viral with even hard-core noodle lovers expressing doubt over the safety of their favourite brand and their 2AM staple and best friend! But then, the taste-maker is made of flour and other spices and as a result, won’t it naturally be flammable? What’s the proof that there’s plastic or any other powder inside?!

Also, for those blaming Maggi, the video does not show the brand of the noodles at any point of time. Neither is it mentioned that they are Maggi noodles or any other noodle brand. It is just a generic video. It could be any noodle brand! What proof is there that it is Maggi or any XYZ brand? Also, the packaging is very different from that of Maggi noodles. The noodle brand comes in a bright yellow coloured packet for the masala variant and a yellowish-green pack for the atta (whole wheat) version. The colour of the packet in this video is a bright green. So before going all out on the world’s (or atleast India’s) favourite once again, take a breather. This is NOT Maggi.

But whichever brand it is, the video is absolutely inconclusive. Try taking some flour and add spices to it and then set it aflame. It will burn. Plus, there are other preservatives and additives added to the taste-maker to enhance taste. This is not just with Maggi or any other instant noodle brand but pretty much with every packaged food out there. So while you watch the video and express glee/shock – remember one this thing. This video is pretty pointless. It proves absolutely NOTHING! And if you can trust your food labs and safety standards, then go ahead continue eating Maggi by all means. And if you’re sceptic – well, nothing call help you there!
