Pakistan defeated England by 75 runs in the first of the four-match Test series at Lord’s. Chasing 283 England could only manage 207 runs in their second innings. It was Pakistan’s bowling, led by leg-spinner Yasir Shah, that set up the win for Pakistan, their fourth at the iconic Lord’s ground.

Shah scalped ten wickets in the match to bamboozle the home side. Just after the win, senior batsman Younis Khan assembled fellow teammates near the boundary rope. And ordered them, in military style, to do the push-ups and salute the national flag.

The idea behind this celebration was to honour Pakistan Army. The Pakistan cricket team ahead of England tour participated in summer fitness boot camp under Pakistan Army.

In the 1st innings, Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq scored a century and then celebrated with ten push-ups and a salute. Misbah later revealed that he had promised Army guys to do push-ups after scoring a century in England.

The Test match was also special for Mohammad Amir, who returned to game’s longest format after over five years. However, the pacer only picked three wickets in the match, including the last England batsman to fall.

The second Test between England and Pakistan will now be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from 22 July onwards.
