Google rolls out Chrome Laptop and Browser Login!

Google Netbook arrives in 2010

Just a few days ago Google unveiled (rather leaked) details of the Nexus One mobile phone, the Google branded phone. If the new buzz is to be believed we may see a Google branded laptop available for sale very soon.

The said laptop will be called the 'Google Chrome OS Netbook', and the company is reportedly working with select manufacturers to ensure a good Chrome OS experience for users when devices with the OS arrive in 2010. "The Google Chrome OS team is currently working with a number of technology companies to design and build devices that deliver an extraordinary end user experience. Among others, these companies include Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba." a statement read.

Reportedly, Google has been having talks with at least one hardware manufacturer to build the Notebook. Google also gave the company a 'Request For Proposal' with quite detailed technical specifications and has begun discussions on building it. Insiders say that Google will have the devices built so that they are branded with the company's name and sold on a commercial basis. The Notebook is expected to arrive during November 2010. It is suggested that Google will power the netbook with ARM CPU instead of the Atom processors, targeting Nvidia's Tegra. ARMs are outperforming the Atoms, and it will be interesting to use a Netbook loaded with Chrome OS running on a fast processor playing HD Flash videos.

On the other side, Google is also planning to implement the 'Browser Login' feature that will let users login from the browser rather than from the computer. That means you will be able to access your Email from any PC without the need to save your login and password on that computer. Your settings will automatically be saved in the browser. That way you can log into any Chrome machine and have exactly the same experience everywhere.
