Even Nokia Has an Android Phone

Thanks to a Hacker

Dying to see how a Nokia phone works with Google's Android operating system? Ask this hacker named Brandon Roberts, he will hook up a nice Nokia for you with Android.

Mr Hacker Roberts has found out a way to dual boot the native Maemo-Linux operating system on the Nokia N900 and also the Android operating system. So what does that prove? Just this - Nokia does have the ability to run Android and can very well jump aboard the Android bandwagon like the HTC phones. The Maemo 5 OS is a platform for mainly enthusiasts rather than for the average consumer, and hackers can do with Maemo used for experimentation and Android simultaneously for everyday use.

Here is a video which provides proof of the concept:

Incidentally, the mobile industry celebrated its 25th anniversary in London with an event held at the Flight Gallery of the Science Museum. "Cellular 25 has been developed in association with the chief technology officers of the five cellular operators and therefore constitutes an important cross-industry initiative to mark the role that technology and engineering has played and, even more importantly, will play in driving social and economic advances in the UK and globally," said Sir David Brown, who chaired the event. "Life changing developments in all spheres of human activity begin with a dream," added Brown during his opening speech.

"When I became a telecoms engineer I bought into the collective dream of available, affordable phones for everyone on the planet. We dreamed that dream in universities, companies, governments and in pubs. God knows how many pints of bitter we poured into that dream. Yet we never imagined that by now that dream would have turned into a reality for more than four billion people. One thing our industry has proved time and time again is that none of us have the monopoly on wisdom," concluded Brown.
