Coming in 2010 - Medal of Honor: Modern WarfareCOD clone?
No, this is not a joke, as we reported earlier, Electronic Arts is indeed revamping the Medal of Honor franchise. The latest buzz is that EA is giving Medal of Honor a Call of Duty treatment, the new title will be set in the present day. Apparently the new Medal of Honor game has been in the works since a year, and the new title will be a spin on the series, as it is going to be set in the present day and will offer a new take on the modern warfare concept. Goes without saying, the game will face a lot of flak for 'copying' the Call of Duty formula. It is interesting to note that EA decided to let slip info about a modern Medal of Honor game in the works as soon as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched. The new MOH is slated to release in February or March 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms. According to insiders, EA will make an official statement during December this year, and we can expect the first trailer and screenshots sometime during Christmas. Nothing else is known about the project, let alone the names of the EA developer or studio or even the title of the game. Also, if EA's new restructuring plan (EA just fired 1,500 employees) affect the development of the game remains to be seen. The first Medal of Honor game released back in 1999, its story was created by Hollywood director/producer Steven Spielberg. In the game the player takes the role of the fictional Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson, who is recruited to the OSS and the game takes place during the near end of World War II. The goal of MOH is to complete objectives, such as destroying enemy positions, and kill enemy German forces in the process. MOH spawned a number of games including Medal of Honor: Underground, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun , Medal of Honor: Infiltrator, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, Medal of Honor: European Assault and the recent Medal of Honor: Airborne. The series has suffered thanks to the enormous success of the Call of Duty franchise, and the Modern Warfare games virtually annihilated the competition. November 12, 2009
