Snapdeal, the Indian e-commerce portal has announced a new sale for the New Year. The sale is aptly called “Welcome 2017” as it is for welcoming the new year with a bang. Generally, in India, while e-commerce portals announce sales and offers during the festive season, for brick and mortar retailers, the sale season is divided into two – the Winter sale in January and Monsoon sale in June-July. Most e-commerce portals are now targeting the sale season of retailers in the country. Snapdeal’s Welcome 2017 sale will offer a wide range of offers and discounts across multiple brands and products. The sale also has great offers on electronics and gadgets. The sale will be divided in two days and both days will see heavy discounts for all Snapdeal customers on different products.

Snapdeal is assuring users of a massive up to 70 percent discount under their Welcome 2017 sale. The discount will be across different categories – electronics, clothing, home appliances, smartphones, etc. Additionally, apart from the sale price, Snapdeal is also offering additional discount to specific card users. The discounts range from no-cost to EMIs to additional cuts on prices. While almost all card holders can avail no-cost EMIs, as part of the Snapdeal Welcome 2017 sale, the additional 15 percent off discount applies only to SBI card holders. The Snapdeal Welcome 2017  sale kicks off from midnight of 8th January and will continue will 11.59 PM on 9th January. Additionally, there are also other offers like no delivery charge and speedy delivery for Snapdeal Gold customers.

Snapdeal, through the Welcome 2017 sale is offering a free upgrade to Snapdeal Gold, which is a premium service for regular Snapdeal customers. Using the Snapdeal Gold service,buyers can avail free shipping, express shipping, extended return policy, etc at no extra cost. However, not all users can avail this upgrade. Under the Snapdeal Welcome 2017 sale, only those users making a prepaid payment (by card, netbanking or wallet) can get the free Snapdeal Gold upgrade and it is not applicable for Cash on Delivery or COD customers. According to a Snapdeal Statement, “On choosing the prepaid option, customers can also get an automatic upgrade to the premier Snapdeal Gold service which includes zero shipping charges, free express delivery, with an extended 14 day return policy, at no extra cost.” Vodafone users can now get unlimited 4G data at Rs 16. Snapdeal had already offered a heavy discount on electronics last month, in December 2017 through their Unbox 2017 sale. The sale saw many popular smartphones and gadgets go on discount. The Snapdeal Welcome 2017 sale comes close on the heels of Snapdeal Unbox 2017 sale. Snapdeal recently also started delivering cash, meaning turning into a home delivery ATM machine. Snapdeal users in certain locations could order cash from the site and have it delivered to their doorstep at no additional cost. The service saw a massive surge in Snapdeal sales with many people ordering cash through the site. With the new Snapdeal Welcome 2017 sale, Snapdeal continues its support of demonetisation through the additional schemes for prepaid customers on the site.
