This app lets you scan Rs 2000 note and view PM Narendra Modi's message right on the note!

Since the launch of the Rs 2000 note in India, Indians have been going completely gaga over it. They simply cannot resist trying out the note and experimenting with it. This is the first time the Rs 2000 note has been rolled out in the Indian market. While in the past there have been notes of higher denominations, they have all been discontinued and Indians had only the Rs 1000 note (now discontinued) as the highest currency. Now that the Rs 2000 note is launched, all focus is on the newbie in town. Another factor attracting people to the Rs 2000 note is it’s new look and colour. The note is very bright as compared to other Indian notes which look pale. Also, the note has an all new design with newer motifs and in terms of weight, it feels lighter and easier to carry.

Since the new note was announced on 8th November by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people queued up outside banks to lay their hands on this note, it has already been through a lot. Right in the beginning, before we even got these notes, PM Modi’s statement that these notes will be easier to track made people believe that the notes come embedded with some form of advanced nano-chip GPS tracker. While this news was soon proved to be false, people, on getting the notes then began to conduct bizarre experiments on the poor notes! The most common of these was the water test where the notes were washed under a running tap, soaked in water and even crumpled before being sunk in water for sometime – just to see if they are water-proof! Some even burnt their notes to try the fire-test! The madness of the super rich, we tell you.

The note is scanned and in your smartphone scanner now and the video begins to play on the device with the Rs 2000 note as the background. As the Rs 500 note is not yet out in the market, it is for now more applicable to the Rs 2000 note. Called Modi Keynote, this app is created by a Bangalore start-up called Barra Skull Studios. The app is an Indian app and will only work with the Rs 2000 and new Rs 500 notes, not with notes of any other denomination. The app is a gfree app and can be downloaded from Google Play store by everyone having an Android device. For now, the app is only an Android app and is compatible with all smartphones using Android 4.4 Kitkat and above. It is unclear if and when the app will come to iOS. The app is an extremely basic app and performs no other functions. Created as a harmless prank, the app also warns users to not test the authenticity of notes using the scanner as it is only for prank purposes and it will only play the video of Narendra Modi announcing the new notes. However, it sure can be a great means of entertaining!
