With brands competing for market share and trying to make a fool of consumers with fake promises promised by the fairness creams out there, it is best to stick to few old strategies to achieve better results.

Lemon Water: All these cosmetics promise a lighter skin tone but in the end its nothing but bleaching powder. Try lime water instead. Besides benefiting the skin, water and lime juice reduces ageing, blackheads and  wrinkles. Lemon acts as a natural bleach as it contains vitamin C and the acidity present in the lemon, helps in whitening the skin.

Potato: Place a potato slice on your face and massage it gently. This will remove red marks, blemishes and lighten your skin tone.

Tea: A US research points out that drinking tea can lower peroxides (cause of  skin burn and roughness), and make your skin better cause it is a strong antioxidant.
