IPL 2014 Final: Kolkata Knight Riders 5 most exciting moments in IPL 7

Kolkata Knight Riders

We will witness the finals of the 7th edition of the IPL and it won’t be an overstatement to say that two of the best teams in the tournament will face each other in the finals. A team does not make it to this stage of a tournament without making impact and playing some exciting matches and delivering even more exciting performances. Here we take a look at some of the most exciting moments featuring the Kolkata Knight Riders in the current edition f the IPL.

1. Chris Lynn’s Catch: in the long run, this catch may well be remembered as the catch of the season for IPL 7. Kolkata were down and out in the tournament and looked like they are about to lost their third game in a row when an unknown name from Australia jumped in the air and took a stunner at the deep Mid wicket boundary to dismiss none other than Ab De Villiers when RCB needed 6 runs of 3 deliveries.

2. The Great Collapse: Back to India, Kolkata had lost their first 2 games in India as well and had just 4 points from 6 games. For the first time in the season, Kolkata’s opening partnership struck well for the team and the duo of Robin Utthapa and Gautam Gambhir added 120 for the first time. Disaster struck when Watson dismissed Gambhir on the first delivery of his over and what followed is the most Bizarre display of batting you will ever see. The Knight Riders lost 6 wickets in the space of 2 runs and 8 deliveries and ultimately lost their 3rd match in a row.

3. The tie: Again a game featuring the Royals and once again the Knight Riders floundered when they literally had the match in the palm of their hands. Knight riders needed 17 in 2 overs when Faulkner came into bowl and picked up 3 wickets in an over making sure that the game was not won by the Knight Riders and ultimately won it in the Super Over.

4. Shakib Al Hasan destroying the Chennai Bowling: Kolkata started off well again in the chase as they had done after the loss against the Royals. But they lost some wickets and it seemed like they might get into some sort of trouble, that is when Shakib entered the middle and made a mockery of the chase scoring runs at a rate of knots and chased down the total comfortably in the end.

5. Yusuf’s Pathanology: Kolkata needed to chase down a total of 160+ in 15.2 overs to make sure that they end up in the top 2 of the league table and get 2 shots at the spot in the finals. They began well but once again looked like losing the momentum in the middle overs with the quick wickets of Utthapa, Ten Doeschate and Shakib but Yusuf Pathan for once showed his worth for the Knight Riders as he smashed no less than 72 runs in just 22 deliveries making his way to the fastest IPL 50, reaching the milestone in just 15 deliveries.
