Kings XI Punjab mauled Chennai Super Kings in their last outing while Royal Challengers Bangalore was on the receiving end against Mumbai Indians. Both the teams that started the IPL 2014 campaign on the same note, hailed as the IPL 7 title winners are placed on the two halves of the points table. On one hand is table toppers Kings XI Punjab, while on the other hand is struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore. The major difference has been the contribution from most of the players in the KXIP side, as for RCB only few players are clicking. We take a look at the five players that can make a difference in match number 31.
AB De Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
The hero of the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, AB De Villiers played a fine match winning knock of 89 not out to give RCB crucial two points. He played the innings he has been known for. RCB captain Virat Kohli has hailed De Villiers as the best player. The way he hammered one of the best bowlers of the side, Dale Steyn for the maximums, he can be very dangerous against KXIP bowlers.
Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
The West Indian is yet to fire. It has been Glenn Maxwell show and Gayle loyalists would be hoping the RCB opener to come all cylinders firing against KXIP. The home side would be hoping to see Gayle-Storm at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gayle looked in form in the last match against KXIP in the first over knocking fours till he was removed by Sandeep Sahrma. Looks like the time has come to make some amends.
George Bailey (Kings XI Punjab)
The Australian player has been one brilliant captain for KXIP and is soon attaining the title of Mr. Cool for his great leadership in any given situation. And in his last match he showcased his batting skills when he belted Chennai Super Kings bowlers all around the stadium. Striking the ball at more than the strike rate of 300, Bailey made 40 runs in mere 13 balls. With him playing like the way he did in last match, KXIP opponents have all the more reasons to worry about.
Mitchell Johnson (Kings XI Punjab)
Another Australian in the side for KXIP, Mitchell Johnson is the spearhead of the great bowling attack of Punjab. He has been bowling with pace, good line and length. The 32 year-old has been enjoying himself and has been a great opening bowler along with Sandeep Sharma.
Dark Horse: Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Virat Kohli, the best batsman in the world has not been able to fire so far in IPL 2014. He knows the great form Kings XI Punjab has been lately and playing against the best is what Virat Kohli would hope for.
