Mother Teresa 106th birth anniversary: 17 most inspiring quotes of the icon of peace and humanity!

Aug 26: Mother Teresa continues to inspire and motivate us with her meaningful life messages even after nearly 19 years after her death. Her canonization is scheduled for 4 September 2016, a day before the 19th anniversary of her death. Mother Teresa, also known as Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, MC, was an Albanian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. Born, in Skopje (modern Republic of Macedonia), to parents, Nikola and Dranafile Bojaxhiu of Albanian descent on 26 August 1910, Mother Teresa was the recipient of numerous honours, including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.

On 19 October 2003, she was beatified as “Blessed Teresa of Calcutta”. Paving the way for her to be recognized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church, a second miracle was credited to Mother Teresa intercession by Pope Francis, in December 2015. Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 consisted of over 4,500 sisters and was active in 133 countries. After having lived in Macedonia for eighteen years, she moved to Ireland and then to India, where Mother Teresa lived for most of her life. She taught in India for 17 years before she experienced her 1946 “call within a call” to devote herself to caring for the sick and poor.(ALSO READ: Mother Teresa to become saint on September 4; Pope Francis approves her sainthood)

According to a biography written by Joan Graff Clucas, in her early years Agnes was fascinated by stories of the lives of missionaries and their service in Bengal, and by age 12 had become convinced that she should commit herself to a religious life. Her final resolution was taken on 15 August 1928, while praying at the shrine of the Black Madonna of Vitina-Letnice, where she often went on pilgrimage.
