Bipasha Basu was born on January 7, 1979, in New Delhi. She is a model and actress, mainly seen in Bollywood movies of the thriller and horror genres. Bipasha Basu did her schooling from Apeejay High School. Through her career, she became one of the highest-paid actresses of Bollywood and also one of the most high-profile and popular celebrities of the nation. Bipasha Basu is married to actor Karan Singh Grover since April 30, 2016. After becoming successful as a fashion model, Bipasha Basu made her debut in movies with a supporting role in Ajnabee, a thriller released in the year 2001, opposite famous Bollywood actor Akshaye Kumar. Ajnabee movie won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She played the leading role in the horror movie Raaz in 2002 opposite her then beau Dino Morea. The real-life couple elicited a strong pull and Raaz was a commercial success. The movie also earned her the nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Bipasha Basu is a fitness icon for many. She is not only seen in movies but also has released her fitness DVD for all the fitness freaks. The DVD was named Love Yourself and was released in the year 2010. The DVD laid emphasis on being healthy, strong, and loving one's self. It consisted a routine for weight-loss in 60 days. Bipasha Basu was the brand ambassador of the famous brand Sugar Free. This helped her promoting the DVD. The director of Shemaroo Entertainment said that, "A celebrity like Bipasha Basu, genuinely believes in staying healthy. She is also passionate about fitness". Other fitness videos featuring Bipasha Basu is Bollywood Bodies. She was featured along with John Abraham. Bipasha Basu also launched her second Fitness DVD by the name Break Free. The second DVD was launched in September 2011. It is a 30-minute dance routine.

Bipasha Basu is also the face of the Delhi Marathon, with her ex-beau John Abraham representing the Mumbai Marathon. In the month of January in the year 2014, Bipasha Basu launched her third fitness DVD by the name Unleash. This DVD showed an advance training routine that includes plyometrics. It emphasizes on the power and speed, while making the bones strong and improving the coordination of muscle. In the year 2014, Bipasha Basu was seen working on various roles in different types of movies. A media house wrote the reviews of the movie Alone featuring Bipasha Basu and her co-star Karan Singh Grover. The reviews stated that "With some genuine scary moments and Bipasha-Karan's scorching chemistry, Alone stands apart from numerous horrible horror flicks made in the past".

In addition to that, the movie house stated that "Bipasha Basu just takes her act to another level". Bipasha Basu is ranked eighth in The Times of India's 50 most desirable women in the year 2011, ranked 13 in the year 2012, and ranked 7 in the year 2013. She was named the "Sexiest Woman in Asia" in the year 2005 and in 2007 by UK magazine Eastern Eye.
