Roger Federer is a professional tennis player from Switzerland and is regarded as the greatest tennis player of all time. Born on August 8, 1981, Federer is the leading grand slam champion, with 18 major titles. He is one of the seven men to capture a career slam (win all the four Grand Slams). Roger Federer has taken over US champion Pete Sampras for the Open Era record of most titles at Wimbledon, with his eighth win at Wimbledon 2017 in the finals. Thus, it was a historical Roger Federer vs Marin Cilic match in the Wimbledon 2017 Final on Sunday, 16 July.

Federer shares a record of most titles (five) at the US Open with Jimmy Connors and Pete Sampras. Federer is the first player to have reached 65+ wins in the Grand Slam tournament and has won 294 Grand Slam matches. His ATP records include winning six ATP World Tour Finals and have also won the Olympic gold in doubles with Stanislas Wawrinka in 2008.
