Zoya Akhtar, born on January 9, 1974 in Mumbai, is the daughter of Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani. Farhan Akhtar is her brother and Shabana Azmi is her stepmother. Akhtar is a director and screenwriter. She completed her education at Maneckji Cooper School, St. Xaviers College and New York University Film School. She has directed Luck By Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Bombay Talkies, written Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Talaash and has been the assistant director for Dil Chahta Hai.
