Ekta Kapoor

Ekta Kapoor is an Indian television and film producer and director who works predominantly in the Hindi film and television industries. She is also the joint managing director and creative head of Balaji Telefilms, a production company. She made her debut as a movie producer in 2001 for the movie Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta.

In actual, Ekta's career began when she was 15 years old, working as an intern for ad and feature filmmaker Kailash Surendranath. She has produced or co-produced over 120 television shows, around 40 movies, and over 20 web series.

TELEVISION:

The television shows that Ekta has worked with are, in 1995 - Padosan, Captain House, Mano Ya Na Mano, Hum Paanch (season 1), in 1999 - Bandhan, Kanyadaan, in 2000 - Itihaas, Kaun, Kasamm, Kashti, Kavita, Kundali, Koshish... Ek Aasha, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, and in 2001 - Kuch Khona Hai Kuch Pana Hai, Kaleerein, Karam, Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, Kkusum, Kohi Apna Sa, Kalash, Kutumb, Kaahin Kissii Roz, Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

2002 TO 2004:

There was never a year when Ekta worked on only one show, and from 2002 she was a producer/co-producer on the shows Hum Paanch (season 2), Kitne Kool Hai Hum, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat,
Kuchh Jhuki Palkain, Kammal, Kahi To Milenge. In 2003 she worked in Kahani Terrii Merrii, Kayaamat, Kahiin to Hoga, Kkoi Dil Mein Hai, and in 2004 in Kaarthika, Kosmiic Chat, Kalki, Karma, Kyaa Kahein, Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi, Kkehna Hai Kuch Mujhko, K. Street Pali Hill, and Kesar.

2005 TO 2009:

Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta (2001), Kucch To Hai (2003), Krishna Cottage (2004), Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005), Koi Aap Sa (2005), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Mission Istanbul (2008), C Kkompany (2008), EMI – Liya Hai Toh Chukana Parega (2008), Love Sex aur Dhokha (2010), Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), Taryanche Bait (2011), Shor in the City (2011), Ragini MMS (2011), The Dirty Picture (2011), Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum (2012).

In 2013, Ekta produced Ek Thi Daayan, Shootout at Wadala, Lootera, and Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Dobara. In 2014, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Ragini MMS 2, Main Tera Hero, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, and Ek Villain — There's one in every love story. In 2016, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3, Azhar, Udta Punjab, and A Flying Jatt. In 2017, Half Girlfriend, and Super Singh, followed by Veere Di Wedding and Laila Majnu in 2018, and in 2019, Judgementall Hai Kya, Jabariya Jodi, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, and Dream Girl.

AWARDS:

Ekta is a recipient of numerous awards, among them the Indo-American Society Award for Most Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur in 2010, National Media Award For Asian Academy of Film And Television for Most Successful Film and Television Producer in 2012, and Indian Television Academy Award for Best Serial - Popular - Kundali Bhagya, Highest Rated Show - Naagin, and many others.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Ekta Kapoor was born on June 7, 1975 in Bombay (Now Mumbai), Maharashtra to actors Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, and she has one brother, who is also an actor. She attended Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, and then her college at Mithibai College. She is also a mother to a boy born through surrogacy. She has also launched 40 web TV series online through her digital app ALTBalaji, and a fashion series under EK Label.
