Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s Jagga Jasoos is a romantic comedy written and directed by Anurag Basu. The film is co-produced by Anurag and Ranbir Kapoor. Adah Sharma also features in a pivotal role in the movie, which touted around the life of a teenage detective hunting for his missing father. After much delay, Jagga Jasoos released on July 14, 2017, which is two days before its leading lady Katrina Kaif's birthday on July 16. Jagga Jasoos' shooting began in Cape Town, South Africa and there were reports of real-life romance between the couple cropping between the lead actors. However their constant love tiffs affected the normal routine and the shoot got delayed. Moreover, the director was not convinced about the impact of the scenes and wanted to re-shoot them after completing a 20-day schedule with the team. Anurag used the additional schedule to re-shoot some of the scenes of the film. Ranbir was simultaneously shooting for Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet and Katrina in the meanwhile completed Fitoor and Baar Baar Dekho.

Anurag Basu explaining the delay had told media, "We've to shoot Jagga Jasoos during the gaps in the shooting of Bombay Velvet. We completed one schedule. Now we'll go into a lengthy schedule from August. By the end of the year the shooting would be complete." Later on 21 October 2014, the Jagga Jasoos team began filming in Thailand and on 20 April 2016 they shot for the Darjeeling schedule.
Jagga Jasoos was incessantly delayed following the fallout between Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Their breakup created an awkward situation on the film’s sets making it difficult for the team to work as well. The film which was to be released on November 27, 2015 got postponed over conflicting commitments of the leads. The release date was finalised to 14 July, 2017.
