Rangoon is one of the most awaited Vishal Bhardwaj's film after his super hit film Haider! The film that stars Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor is a love triangle that is set against the historical backdrop of world war II (1939-1945). In this love saga, Kangana plays a role of an actress from the era of 40s named as Julia. Julia is inspired from Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia who was said to be Bollywood's first original stunt-woman and is still known for her powerful role in film 'Hunterwali'. While Saif Ali Khan plays a filmmaker, Shahid Kapoor plays a role of a soldier who leads his troop.
In the story, Rusi Billimoria (Saif) is seen as a possesive beau of Miss Julia ( Kangana Ranaut) who is not very happy with Julia getting attracted to the lead of the troop Nawab Malik (Shahid). The movie was initially supposed to go on floors soon after 'Omkara' in 2006 with the title name 'Julia'. However that could not work out and the film got delayed until 2017. The screenplay is written by Matthew Robbins who also earlier penned down the screenplay for Bhardwaj's movie '7 Khoon Maaf'.
The trailer of this much awaited film Rangoon was out on January 6, 2017 which gave the audience a marvellous glimpse of what the film has to offer.
