Shivaay is a 2016 upcoming Indian action thriller film directed and produced by Ajay Devgan under his banner Ajay Devgn F Films. Shivaay is about a man who in order to protect his family, a stable and innocent Himalayan mountaineer transforms into a mean destroyer when he needs to. It stars Ajay Devgn, Sayyeshaa Saigal, and Erika Kaar in lead roles. Mithoon has composed the film's score and soundtrack. British band The Vamps is also the part of music. Shivaay film director Ajay Devgn is also an Indian film actor, director and producer. He is widely considered as one of the most popular actors of Hindi cinema who has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films. In 2016, he was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour of the country.
The film’s actress Sayyeshaa Saigal is making her Hindi debut with Ajay Devgn's much-anticipated film Shivaay. She has also appeared in Hindi and Telugu films. Erika Kaar, is a Polish actress and will be seen in Shivaay. The film has been shot in Mussoorie, Bulgaria and Hyderabad. Shivaay's soundtrack has been composed by Mithoon with a guest vocal appearance by the British Pop-rock band The Vamps, while the lyrics been penned by Sayeed Quadri & Sandeep Shrivastava. Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn announced on twitter that his forthcoming directorial venture Shivaay has been granted a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He also added that the censor board officials were highly cordial and co-operative over certifying the film.
Ajay Devgn's upcoming Diwali release Shivaay was supposed to be a joint collaboration between Eros International, Pen India and Ajay Devgn Films. 'Shivaay' was initially going to be a Rs 70-crore film with Eros and Pen agreeing on a 50:50 investment plan. However, during shooting, Shivaay was scaled up so as to not compromise on the final outcome. Eros bowed out of the project due to disagreements regarding the finances. The music rights of the film belong to T-Series.
On May 20, Ajay Devgn had announced his upcoming film Shivaay on Twitter, along with a teaser picture of the film which shows a gloved hand clinging to a snow-clad peak. He had shared a picture which showed a glove hand clinging to a snow-clad peak. The actor had also spoken about the difficulties faced while shooting in extreme temperature. Shivaay is Ajay's second film as director after Me Aur Hum which also starred his actress wife Kajol.
