Vijay Krishna Acharya, the writer-director of Dhoom:3, teams up once again with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in Thugs of Hindostan. But that isn't the only special thing about this much-awaited film. The movie also stars megastar Amitabh Bachchan, and this will be the very first time when we will see Aamir Khan and Sr Bachchan on the silver screen together. And it won't be wrong to say that this is film lore in the making! The leading lady of the film is Aamir Khan's co-star in Dangal, Fatima Sana Shaikh. There were rumours that Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were in the running for the role. Word was that when Aamir suggested Fatima Sana Shaikh to play the female lead in Thugs of Hindostan, producer Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films (YRF) was not comfortable with the idea. This is because Thugs of Hindostan apparently involves a dream sequence in which Aamir has to kiss the girl. So, considering Fatima Sana Shaikh has played Aamir's daughter in Dangal, Aditya didn't want her to be romantically paired opposite Aamir. But the role finally went to the promising newcomer from Dangal, Fatima Sana Shaikh! But that's not all, Thugs of Hindostan will also have Aamir's Dhoom:3 co-star Katrina Kaif starring, although not as a main lead.

As for the plot of the film, Thugs of Hindostan will take a look at the lives of Imperial deceivers, thugs who stole from travellers in India during the 1830s. it is said to be based on the novel Confessions of a Thug by Philip Meadows Taylor. Considering the story of Thugs of Hindostan, it’s bound to be a big budget project. Thugs of Hindostan will reportedly be one of the most expensive movies to be ever produced under the Yash Raj banner. Elaborate sets, expensive costumes and the whole set-up will be there. When you have someone like Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan on board, investing money is never an issue since the returns are always guaranteed, we can safely say.
