For too long have Mumbaikars stuck to the conventional picnic outings and first date ideas. For too long have we turned envious thinking of the amazing options westerners have when it comes to a movie night. Not anymore. Mumbai is all set to get its own drive in theater in 2017. This means that you will soon be able to watch your favorite movies in an open space with your loved one. It will come up right in the heart of the city at Maker Maxity in the Bandra-Kurla complex which currently houses some of the most popular commercial complexes. Known as a very American concept, the drive in theater is not new to Mumbai. Kids who grew up in the ’90s in Mumbai will remember that there have previously been attempts at this concept at Napean Sea Road and in BKC itself. The drive-in theater at Bandra sustained till it was pulled down in 2003. Several romances bloomed in the complex during the time the theater was operational. While the drive-in concept may not have worked then, this looks like a great time to try it out with all guns blazing! DO SEE 9 offbeat places to visit in Mumbai for a perfect date

The new drive in theater is expected to be a lavish set-up with some fantastic amenities. Managed by PVR cinemas, the complex will be built across 75000 sq metres and will be able to hold as many as 300 cars. Ticket cost per car is set at Rs 1,000. For those who do not like watching the movie in this fashion, there will also be a six-screen multiplex below the drive-in where the ticket prices will range from Rs 350 to Rs 750. The set up will also have a fine-dinging area designed to accommodate around 100 people. As one might expect, the food and drinks may be on the expensive side. But we are not complaining as we expect it to be totally worth the experience!
