Think of an idealist little Swiss town under the shadow of the Alps, and you've probably pictured Gstaad.
The friendly town of Gstaad and the larger Gstaad-Saanenland holiday region, located in the Bernese Oberland of Bern, Switzerland, is pretty much your postcard Swiss town. It has everything you would expect: expansive green meadows, snow-capped Alpine mountains and lots of celebrities. Gstaad is a popular spot for the rich and famous, but the smaller villages around the town offer similar views of the region and make for great destinations for families and kids. Gstaad, meanwhile, has top luxury hotels, luxurious chalets and gourmet restaurants, and the nearby Saanen airport makes it easier for the big-ticket celebs to make their way to the town. Here’s a look at some photos of Gstaad to take you closer to the picturesque Swiss town. ALSO READ: Photos of Bandhavgarh National Park, a Haven of Natural Beauty in Madhya Pradesh

The car-free resort town of Gstaad has several other neighbouring resorts, like Gsteig, Zweisimmen, Saanenmöser, Schönried, Turbach, Feutersoey and Abländschen around the Saanenland. Altogether, the region has a lot more going for it than the elements of a typical Swiss vacation. There are the moors and waterfalls of the nature preserve by Lake Lauenen, the winter sports of Schönried and Saanenmöser, the quiet village of Abländschen and the historic streets of Saanen.
