The one factor that won it for Motorola when it came to the Moto G may not be there for the Moto G2 (or G+1), the affordability. Moto G wowed the buyers with its attractive price tag, achieved brilliantly by good marketing and sales strategy. The Moto G2 is rumored to be priced at RS 20,500 while the Moto G was priced at Rs 12,499 and Rs 13,999 for the 8GB and 16GB version respectively on launch. But will the tech specs justify the price tag? Let’s compare the specifications
|Display||4.5 inch 720p HD||5 inch 720p HD|
|Processor||1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, Quad Core||Snapdragon 400 chipset with Cortex 1.2GHz Cortex A7 CPU|
|Video Processor||Adreno 305 GPU||Adreno 305 GPU|
|Camera||5MP Primary (front), 1.3MP (rear)||8MP (front), 2MP (rear)|
|Android version||4.4 Kitkat||4.4.4 Kitkat|
|Internal Storage||8GB, 16GB (no expansion)||8GB|
One wonders whether an extra half-inch and 3 MP extra in the front camera is worth the extra Rs 6,500 that one will be paying if the rumored price is accurate.
The Xiaomi Mi 3 offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 8274AB 2.3GHz processor with Adreno 330 450MHz GPU, both of which are better that the specs of G2 and a 13MP camera, for a price of Rs 13,999. Of course, the fact that it is rarer than Platinum is another story but the price tag of Mi 3 makes it that attractive. Although, knowing Motorola recent form one can expect them to pleasantly surprise us with the price of Moto G2 or G+1, come September 10.
