Talented producer and writer, Aditya Chopra, is finally returning to the director’s chair after eight years! Chopra will be directing the Vani Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer, “Befikre.” This will be the first film he directs since “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” and—to the delight of Ranveer Singh—the first film he directs without Shah Rukh Khan as the lead!
Chopra’s directorial debut was the legendary film, “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.” Although nothing could compare to the magnanimous love story, his next two directorial ventures, “Mohabbatein,” and “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” still did fairly well. The release date for “Befikre” has been set to December 9, and the crew has already started shooting in Paris, France. Ranveer Singh and Vani Kapoor are definitely not hiding their excitement about shooting in a gorgeous city like Paris.
Although Chopra hasn’t directed many films, he still has a killer formula—and here are a few things we’d love to see repeated in “Befikre!”
1. King Khan
Shah Rukh Khan has starred in every film Chopra has directed—so it is a wild twist that this film stars Bollywood’s latest heartthrob, Ranveer Singh. If he’s not starring in the film, we’re sure hoping we get a peek of King Khan in a cameo, or even perhaps in an item song? He’s done it before, like in his own production “Kaal,” a suspenseful thriller starring Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, and Esha Deol.
2. Killer Romantic Jam
All of Chopra’s films have an epic love song that becomes an instant classic. Chopra does not falter in the romance department and this director evokes love in the coldest of hearts with his music and movies. There are no words to describe the beauty of these songs—from the cinematography to the lyrics and choreography, each scene will give you the feels!
3. Bantering Lovers
Did you notice all of Chopra’s lovers start off against each other? There is always an adorable banter between characters, whether it’s the lead or even supporting characters. You can expect some wise crack jokes, quirky characters, hilarious-laugh-out-loud physical comedy and, of course, loads of awkward moments.
4. Scenic Locations
All Bollywood films have scenic locations—but Chopra’s choice of location is impeccable! From the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland to the gorgeous fields of India, Chopra’s films are always pleasing to the eye. “Befikre” will be shot largely in France, so we can’t wait to see what beautiful backdrops we’ll encounter in this upcoming film!
5. The Power of “Palat“

The epic hit, “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,” taught boys all over the world that if she palats, she truly loves you! Aashiqs all over would wait to see if their love would palat to look back at them after walking away. This “palat” scene stuck with people—and over 20 years later, fans still recall this scene with envy. If only we all had a love like this!
6. Life Lessons
True to all Yash Chopra Films, there will definitely be some type of meaningful life lesson about love. The younger Chopra has taught us that love can sneak up on you when you least expect it, with someone you never thought you could love. He taught us that we should always fight for love, stand up for love, teach others to love, and never change for someone else’s love because we are perfect the way we are.
