Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta And Palembang Day 10: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat created history by becoming the first Indian women wrestler to win gold at the Asian Games. Vinesh defeated Yuki 6-2 in the 50kg category to clinch top honours. But, what happened after she arrived at in India was nothing short of filmy. Her boyfriend Somvir Rathi on Saturday made it a point to go and receive the gold medalist from the airport. He had a surprise planned. The Greco-Roman wrestler exchanged rings outside the arrival gates of the airport.

“No, it was nothing like that. For me, that article involving Neeraj didn’t exist. Somvir and I are friends for 7-8 years and the whole country knows about our relationship,” Vinesh quashed rumours as was quoted by the Times of India.
Meanwhile, Vinesh beat her Japanese counterpart 6-2. This was India’s first gold medal in women’s wrestling in Asian Games.
Vinesh started off cautiously, trying to get a hand of her Japanese counterpart. India wins first points and then doubled it with another attack on the mat. It was 4-0 to Vinesh after the first half. Vinesh showed unbelievable defence to hold onto her lead of 4-0 going into the last minute.
Earlier, Vinesh hardly broke into a sweat in her semi-final encounter against Daulatbike Yakshimuratova of Uzbekistan, as the referees took just 75 seconds to declare the Indian the winner by technical superiority (10-0).
