Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta And Palembang Day 10: Manjit Singh wins gold in men’s 800 m run in the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang. Singh clocked 1:46:45, while his compatriot Jinson Jonson bagged silver. It was a sensational display by both the Indian runners who came storming back in the last lap to bag gold and silver respectively.
The Indian track and field athletes have been performing phenomenally well bagging several medals to India’s tally since the commencement of the events, starred by Neeraj Chopra’s historic gold in the javelin event on Monday.
Earlier today, Dutee Chand makes it to the finals in women’s 200 m semifinals, where the Bahrani girl finished second. She clocked 23 sec to emerge first in another photo-finish. Earlier, in her 100 m race she came second in yet another photo-finish. It seems like she is making it a habit of acing these photo finishes. She would be vying for gold come tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu created history by winning medals in the ongoing 18th Asian Games 2018. Saina won bronze, whereas Sindhu bagged silver. The sport of badminton was introduced in the Asian Games in 1962 and this is the first time India has won a medal at the event. Saina lost to World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying in her semifinal match, whereas Sindhu lost to Tai in the finals in straight games.
Meanwhile, India’s medal tally swelled to 47.
