Veteran wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt has congratulated India freestyle wrestler Bajrang Punia who on Sunday claimed India’s first gold medal at the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia. Punia defeated Japan’s Daichi Takatani 11-8 in the final to secure the top finish in Men’s freestyle 65kg category.

On his official Instagram account, Dutt shared a video in which Punia can be seen receiving a massive reception from fans and media after his historic feat at the ongoing edition of the Asian Games.

“If you have a strong mentality, then nothing in this world, nothing is truly impossible. Bajrang, son, keep getting success like this and keep raising the name of the country, and India’s flag,” wrote Dutt alongside the video.

Punia had dedicated his gold medal to former prime minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee who passed away recently. “I dedicate my Asian Games gold medal to late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” Bajrang tweeted after his win.

It was Bajrang’s second successive gold medal at the Asian Games after his triumph in Incheon 2014 in the 61 kg category.
