Holi, the festival of colours, is a joyous  occasion for every Indian and perhaps foreigners as well, to enjoy the day to the fullest even beyond the traditions. People go out of their way to celebrate the festival by  using various kinds of colours that might not only harm other individuals, but also your surroundings. And if you you are someone like me, who takes care of his bike to the minute detail, its a worrisome reason to keep your bike clean during Holi. Here are a few tips and tricks and do’s and don’ts to consider in order to keep you beloved motorcycle save during Holi.

Do’s for your bike this Holi:

• The foremost thing to do during the festival is to keep yourself safe. So it is essential that you follow proper riding guidelines and proper safety measures.

• Parking spot is a key. Park your bike safely in a closed area and wrap the bike properly with a full bike cover. Also make sure the parking spot is away from playing area, so that your bike remains devoid of colours and water.

• If you are riding the bike during Holi, beware of the surrounding and use mirrors as much as possible. Also, it is advisable to keep safe distance from other motorists and people playing Holi on the streets.

• Specific naked areas of the bike are easy targets during Holi, so just safe parking will not do. Proper covering of these areas is advised.

• Perform necessary pre-check, inspect the tyres, lights, controls, oils, chains and etc. Proper maintenance of the bike to be done with proper inspection and servicing, if necessary.

• Also get your bike wax polished a day prior to the festival that will help in removing the colours and stains much easily.

• If planning to go out, make sure you get yourself geared up properly. Gear will play an important function in protecting you during the festival.

• Make sure you carry few extra rag pieces, which can be used for cleaning the bike and placing it on the seat, in case you are completely wet.

• Carrying an extra pair of clothes is advised. Riding with wet clothes can be lethal.

Don’ts for your bike this Holi:

• Avoid travelling if you face any problem with inspection during the festival. If necessary, book a cab for travelling.

• Do not wear dark clothes. Wearing bright and visible apparel is advised.

• Parking in an open area is a proper call out for stains and colours. So avoid crowded location.

• Don’t avoid helmet. Helmet is essential, as it will protect you from colour and water.

• Don’t get frustrated or annoyed. Keeping yourself composed is the key here.

• Do not over-speed the bike and don’t make unnecessary overtakes as speeding can be fatal. Riding at normal speed is advised.

• Do not lose concentration, it is very necessary to keep your eyes on the road.
