GST Effect: Hyundai Creta, Xcent, Grand i10, Tucson & others get price cuts up to INR 1.12 lakh

Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe has received a price cut of up to INR 1.12 lakh while the Creta’s prices are reduced by up to INR 26,000.

Following the trend in the Indian automotive market, Hyundai Motor India has passed on the GST benefits to its customers. The announcement comes one week after the implementation of GST in India, which has largely resulted in reduction of car prices in India. According to the new GST tax slabs, prices of Hyundai cars in India have been reduced by up to INR 1.12 lakh depending on the models and the states in which these cars are bought. The price reduction is up to 5.9 percent and following are the model wise price cuts on Hyundai cars. The Hyundai Xcent facelift and the Grand i10 have received a price cut in the range of INR 2,660 to INR 6,000 depending on variants. Similarly, the Hyundai Tucson and the Santa Fe premium SUV have received a price cut of up to INR 1.12 lakh. That said, the Hyundai Creta now starts at INR 8.6 lakh (ex-showroom) with a price cut of up to INR 26,000. The new prices on Hyundai cars are effective from July 1, 2017. The upcoming Hyundai Verna mid-size sedan is also expected to benefit from the GST and is likely to be priced aggressively. It is also to be noted that the prices of respective cars are more of less similar to in various states and cities with marginal price difference. Depending on the model, state and taxes related to transportation, prices differ in the range of INR 500 to INR 25,000. Apart from Hyundai Motor India, car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Skoda, Nissan, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW India and Jaguar Land Rover have already passed on GST benefits to its customers.
