Taking the rivalry in the compact-sedan space to the next level, Maruti Suzuki India has launched the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire in the country at an attractive price point of INR 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). As the fact that, Maruti Dzire has been an important player in the market owing to its competitive pricing and the backing from Maruti Suzuki, which is the highest selling brand in the Indian market. In order to give the sedan its own identity, the Indo-Japanese car maker has ditched the Swift prefix from the nameplate deriving it as Maruti Dzire. The price tag of the base variant starts from INR 5.45 lakh whereas the top spec model is priced at INR 9.41 lakh (both prices ex showroom Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Exteriors: Maruti Suzuki Dzire follows the similar silhouette as the previous model from the sides with changes inculcated up front and rear. The changes upfront include an updated front grille which is larger than the existing model. The front fascia is concluded by the projector headlamps with integrated DRLs and circular fog lamps. This is visibly similar to the upcoming new Swift for the market. The sides show that the fenders are similar to the premium Baleno hatchback, while the C-pillar is also redesigned like the Baleno. Taking some more cues from the Baleno it also has wraparound tail lights along with a subtly raised boot lid. The chassis has also been lifted from the Baleno making the new model 100 kg lighter.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Interiors: The interiors are welcomed with several comfort as well as safety features. The dashboard consists of circular HVAC vents in the center whereas the instrument cluster comprises of large twin pod instrument dials flanking a digital readout. The central console will finally be topped by an infotainment screen with Apple Carplay and other connectivity options like USB, Bluetooth, AUX-in etc. The seating ergonomics remains the same but the upholstery is much better as compared to the previous generation model. The safety features consists of ABS with EBD, dual airbags, parking sensors with camera, integrated head rests, electrically adjustable ORVMs and day/night IRVMs.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Engine specifications: Continuing the same powerhouse options, Maruti Suzuki Dzire is offered in both petrol and diesel derivatives wherein the petrol model is powered by a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder K-series engine that produces 84bhp @ 6000 rpm and max torque of 114 Nm @ 4000 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel unit will be equipped with 1.3-litre DDiS oil burner that is tuned to develop 74 bhp against the peak torque of 190Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT unit.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Mileage: Coming to the mileage front, the new generation Dzire is claimed to return fuel economy of 22 kmpl and 28.4 kmpl for petrol and diesel respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Colour: The new Dzire is offered in 6 color options - Oxford Blue, Gallant Red, Sherwood Brown, Magma Grey, Silky Silver & Pearl Arctic White.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Variants: The next generation Maruti Dzire 2017 is offered in 4 trim levels - LXi, VXi, ZXi & ZXi+ across 14 variants.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 Price and Competition: As far as the price point is concerned, the base variant LXi of the new Dzire is priced at INR 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) whereas the top end variant - ZDI+ is available at price tag of INR 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of competition, the new Dzire is pitted against the likes of Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent & Skoda Rapid.
