A presiding officer at the Supaul Polling Booth has died due to a heart attack - his name was Shailendra Kumar. Bihar is one of the states that has gone for polling during the current third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is underway and out of the total seven phases, two have been completed on April 19 and April 26 and the third is currently taking place in 94 Lok Sabha constituencies across 11 states and Union Territories. The counting of votes, i.e. the results will be announced on June 4, 2024. The states where polling is being conducted today, includes Bihar and there is an unfortunate news coming from the state. A presiding officer, Shailendra Kumar has died due to a heart attack at a polling booth in Supaul. What happened to him and what does the doctor have to say about it…

Presiding Officer At Polling Booth In Bihar Dies

As mentioned earlier, the presiding officer of a polling booth in Supaul, Bihar has passed away due to a heart attack, during the ongoing third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The presiding officer has been identified as Shailendra Kumar.

‘Postmortem Has Been Done…’ Doctor Gives Update

Taking about the presiding officer’s death, in a statement the doctor said, “He passed away in the morning…This happened where he was posted. He was rushed to PHC where he was declared dead. Body has been brought here to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. His relatives were informed and they too have reached here. Postmortem has been done. It was found that he was diabetic.”

Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Constituencies

The constituencies where polling is being conducted in the third phase of the Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are – Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura and Khagaria. Apart from Bihar, polling is being conducted in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Complete Schedule

The first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 took place on April 19, the second phase happened on April 26 and the third phase is taking place today, on May 7, 2024. Phase 4 will take place on May 13 with voting in 96 constituencies across 10 states and 20th May is the date for phase 5 when voting will take place in eight states at 49 constituencies. The sixth phase will take place on May 25 with polling in 57 constituencies of seven states and the last phase will be on June 1 with voting in 57 constituencies across eight states. The counting of votes, i.e. result declaration will happen on June 4, 2024.
