Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024: Can RJD Halt NDA Juggernaut In Sheohar Or Will Ruling Alliance Secure 4th Straight Win?

Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024: Sheohar Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar. Before the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat was a bastion of the Lalu Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), however, since then the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and sitting MP Rama Devi has has maintained iron grip over the constituency, winning the seat in three straight elections– 2009, 2014, and 2019.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP leader Rama Devi won the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat for a third consecutive time when she defeating her nearest rival, RJD’s Syed Faisal Ali, by a margin of 3,40,360 votes.

Amidst a heated electoral battle and a near 60 percent voter turnout, Devi secured 6,08,678 votes while Ali only managed to get 2,68,318 votes.

About Sheohar Lok Sabha Constituency

Sitting BJP MP Rama Devi has secured three consecutive victories from the Sheohar constituency, however, she will not be contesting the Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 as the BJP-led NDA has fielded Lovely Anand of the Janata Dal (United) from the seat.

Opposition INDIA bloc’s regional ally RJD will be looking to recapture its former stronghold from the BJP-led NDA while the ruling alliance will be eyeing a fourth straight win.

Elections for the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar will be held in all seven phases of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from April 19 to June 1, 2024. Votes will be counted on June 4 and results declared on the same day, the Election Commission has announced.
