Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP leader and former Bihar deputy chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi Wednesday revealed he has been battling cancer for the past six months and will not feature in party’s plans for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, as a result.

In a post on X, the Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar said he will not be able to take part in the party’s Lok Sabha poll plans owing to his health condition.

“I have been battling cancer for the last 6 months. Now I feel that the time has come to tell people. I will not be able to do anything in the Lok Sabha elections. I have told everything to Prime Minister (Narendra Modi). Always grateful and always dedicated to the country, Bihar and the (Bharatiya Janata Party) party,” Sushil Modi wrote in a post on X in Hindi.

However, Modi, 72, did not elaborate on what type of cancer he is suffering from.

Sushil Modi is prominent face of the BJP in Bihar and eyebrows were raised amongst the political circles in the state after his name did not feature in the party’s candidates list for the Rajya Sabha elections earlier this year.

Reports citing BJP sources said the veteran leader might be made the governor of a state in the future for his services to the party.

“The only rehabilitation I see for him now is being made governor in the future,” The Print quoted a BJP leader as saying in its report.
