Currently, the question on every central government employee’s mind is—when will the 8th Pay Commission come into effect? According to media reports, it could be implemented next year, although there is no official confirmation yet.
The salaries of government employees are revised periodically based on the recommendations of new Pay Commissions. As preparations are going on for the 8th Pay Commission, expectations are high that a major increase in basic pay will follow.
Under the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000. In the 8th Pay Commission, the fitment factor is expected to increase to 2.86 or more. Based on this, the new minimum basic salary could directly jump to around Rs 51,000.
