8th Pay Commission Latest Updates: Even nearly 10 months after the Central government’s announcement, the 8th Pay Commission has still not been formed. In a major development, the central employee organizations have now demanded that the government issue the notification for its formation at the earliest. It is important to note that the central government has also indicated that it is working swiftly in this direction. It is expected that the government may issue the notification next month.
The Central Secretariat Service Forum has recently raised the issue of the delay in forming the commission. The forum wrote to the Prime Minister stating that the 7th Pay Commission was formed about two years before its implementation date. This gave the commission sufficient time to conduct an in-depth study and submit its recommendations.
According to this estimate, if the notification for formation is issued in November, the recommendations may come by November 2027. After that, one might have to wait until January 2028 for them to be implemented. However, sources indicate that the government could introduce a formula under which the recommendations could arrive in less than a year. In that case, the Pay Commission’s recommendations could be implemented from the beginning of 2027.
