8th CPC: Level-7 Salary Calculation (Step-by-Step)

Let’s now do a complete breakdown of the new salary for a Level-7 employee.

  1. New Basic Salary Calculation
  • Current Basic Pay (Level-7): Rs 44,900

  • Estimated Fitment Factor: 1.92

  • New Basic Pay Calculation: Rs 44,900 × 1.92 = Rs 86,208

The takeaway is that your basic salary will jump from Rs 44,900 to over Rs 86,000.

  1. Big Jump in Allowances
    Now, on this new basic pay, your allowances will be added, making your salary even more attractive.
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): When the new pay commission is implemented, DA will be reset to 0%.

  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): For employees living in X-category cities (like Delhi or Mumbai), this will be 30% of the new basic pay. HRA = Rs 25,862

  • Travel Allowance (TA): For higher TPTA cities, this will be Rs 3,600.

8th CPC: Gross Salary vs Net Salary

  • CGHS Deduction: For this level, it will be Rs 650.
