New Delhi: In a major development, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has made it clear that a daughter’s name will not be removed from the family pension list. The clarification comes in response to several complaints where daughters’ names were reportedly being deleted from the family records after the employee’s retirement.
As per the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), every government employee or pensioner must provide details of all their family members. The department clarified: “As soon as the name of a daughter is informed in the prescribed format (proforma) as a family member by a government servant, she shall be treated as a member of the family. Therefore, the daughter’s name shall not be deleted from the list of family members. The eligibility for family pension will be determined after the death of the pensioner or family pensioner, as per the rules.”
