New Delhi, November 23: Linking Aadhaar details with the mobile number has been made mandatory by the government. The government has directed telecom operators to verify mobile number with Aadhaar for all existing customers before February 6, 2018. To fasten the process of Aadhaar-SIM linking, telecom companies have been constantly instructing their customers to link Aadhaar card with phone numbers via SMSs and phone calls to avoid last minute hassle. Failure to link Aadhaar details with SIM or mobile number before February 6, 2018 will cost deactivation of the user’s mobile number.
The UIDAI has rolled an easy way out to link Aadhaar and mobile number. You will now able to link your phone numbers with Aadhaar at your doorstep. Vodafone India, the leader in the enterprises business in the telecom sector has announced its plan to visit door-to-door to help customers link their mobile numbers to Aadhaar. Reports state that Vodafone mobile vans are travelling across Rajasthan and helping people with 4G SIM upgrade and Aadhaar linkages.
“As a part of Vodafone’s endeavour to make their customers lives simpler and better for people residing in the rural heartland of the state, Vodafone has deployed two mobile vans to travel to the villages and smaller towns of Rajasthan, facilitating doorstep SIM upgrades and Aadhar verification”, Vodafone India said in its release. Vodafone’s mobile vans were initiated in January 2017. It has covered more than 450 villages like Jhunjhunu, Mahapura, Hingoniya, Bhadra, Fatehpur, Bandikui, Makrana, Panchpadra, Phalodi etc. and will move on to traverse into more remote villages like Nechwa, Kasli, Dhod, Hindaun, Manoharpur, Kirdhauli, Singrawat, Kurli, Pulasar, and Mangloona among others.
The liking of Aadhaar with mobile number is being done as per the orders of Supreme Court passed in February this year in Lokniti foundation case and all SIM cards have to be verified with Aadhaar within a year from the date of judgement, with all unlinked phones to be deactivated after February next year, so criminals, fraudsters and terrorists cannot use the issued SIMs.
