The Modi government has announced a double Diwali gift for central government employees. The central government increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 3 percent, and now it has announced a bonus as well. The government clarified that Group C and non-gazetted Group B employees will receive a productivity-linked bonus equivalent to 30 days’ salary.

Diwali Bonus For Central Govt Employees

According to orders issued by the Ministry of Finance, this bonus will be given only to those employees who have worked continuously for 6 months up to 2025. If an employee has not been in the job for the entire year, they will not get the full bonus.

The Ministry of Finance also clarified the bonus amount for Group C and non-gazetted Group B employees. If someone was not employed for the full year, they will receive the bonus on a pro-rata basis. The meaning of pro-rata is that the bonus will be paid according to the number of months the employee worked. The government has fixed the bonus amount at Rs 6,908.

The Ministry of Finance has also stated that those employees working with the central government on a pay structure and receiving other types of bonuses will also get the benefit. Moreover, this bonus will also be given to personnel of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the armed forces.

How Is Diwali Bonus Calculated?

This bonus from the central government will be calculated based on a maximum monthly salary of ₹7,000. For example, 7,000 × 30 ÷ 30.4 = 6,907.89 rupees, which has been rounded to ₹6,908. Central government employees were already happy with the 3 percent DA hike, and now the bonus announcement has made their Diwali celebrations even better. The 3 percent DA increase takes the DA from 55% up to 58%.
