Air India of Wednesday offered full refunds and charge-free rescheduling to its passengers travelling on the Mumbai-London flight which returned to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport due to a technical snag.

In a statement, Air India said it has offered full refunds on cancellation and complimentary rescheduling to another date, if so desired by passengers, adding that it has also made alternative arrangements to fly the affected passengers to their destination.

“We have already made alternative arrangements to fly the passengers to their destination. The passengers have also been offered full refunds on cancellation and complimentary rescheduling to another date, if so desired by them. At Air India, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remains top priority,” an Air India spokesperson said.

Earlier today, a London-bound Air India flight, which departed from Mumbai at 8.36 AM in the morning, was forced to turn back and return to the Mumbai airport after nearly 3 hours at around 11.30 AM.

The airline said the flight, Boeing 777, suffered a technical snag and landed safety at Mumbai airport.

“Air India flight AI-129 that had departed from here Wednesday morning returned to the city after the pilot reported pressurisation issue in the Boeing 777 aircraft cabin,” the Tata Group owned airline said, as per the statement.

“The flight operating from Mumbai to London made an air-return to Mumbai due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely at Mumbai for precautionary checks.” Air India said.
