Amazon workforce update: In a significant global business update, big tech company Amazon has taken a surprising and big decision regarding its employment policy. In the recent development, Amazon has decided to debar the nationals of North Korea which is currently led by dictator Kim Jong Un. Alleging that the people of North Korea are earning by employing its IT workers through foreign companies in the global tech company, Amazon has taken the decision to block North Koreans from its company. Amazon decides to debar employees of THIS country

As per media reports says, people from North Korea are trying to get work-from-home jobs in companies around the world, especially in the US. According to a report carried by AFP, Amazon’s Chief Security Officer Stephen Schmidt wrote on LinkedIn that job applications from North Korea have increased by one-third in the past year, showing that many people are applying for IT jobs in American companies.

North Korean hackers are infiltrating US companies

In the recent development, Amazon’s Chief Security Officer has warned that North Korean hackers are infiltrating US companies, particularly in the tech sector, by posing as remote IT workers. Notably, the seriousness of the issue can be estimated from the fact that the issue is likely widespread across industries, not just Amazon.

Hackers using fake identities and ‘laptop farms’

It is also being claimed that these hackers use stolen or fake identities and ‘laptop farms’ – computers in the US controlled remotely from outside the country to deceive companies, mainly from the US. Red flags include wrongly formatted phone numbers and dodgy academic credentials. Therefore, Amazon blocked over 1,800 North Korean applicants and urges companies to report suspicious activity to authorities
