Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan continues to expand his land investments in Ayodhya. After purchasing 5,372 square feet of land in January last year for Rs 4.54 crore, the Bachchan family has now acquired a significantly larger plot measuring 54,454 square feet. This new parcel of land is located 10 kilometers from the Ram Temple and was purchased for Rs 86 lakh.
The latest acquisition was made through the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Trust, and Navbharat Times media report suggest the land may be used to build a memorial dedicated to the legendary poet and Amitabh Bachchan’s father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The property is situated in the Tihura Manjha area, close to the developing Greenfield Township in Ayodhya.
The transaction was finalized with the seller, Pawan Sarda, a senior executive of private developer House of Abhinandan Lodha (HOABL Realtech Private Limited). On both occasions, the purchaser was represented by Rajesh Rishikesh Yadav on behalf of Amitabh Bachchan and the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust.
On January 16, 2023, ahead of the inauguration of the Ram Temple, the Bachchan family purchased their first plot of 5,372 square feet in Ayodhya for Rs 4.54 crore. This marked the beginning of their investment in the holy city.
While the exact purpose of the land has not been disclosed, media report suggest that in Ayodhya’s real estate market the smaller plot near Haveli Avadh could be utilized for residential purposes. However, the larger plot is likely to be used for social or charitable projects.
Assistant Inspector General of Ayodhya’s Stamp and Registration Department, Yogendra Pratap Singh, confirmed the sale deeds but noted that the purpose of the investments would only be revealed after the local development authority approves the building plans.
In a related development, the Maharashtra government is finalizing an agreement with the Housing Development Council to establish a state guest house within Ayodhya’s upcoming Greenfield Township.
The Bachchan family’s growing investments in Ayodhya shows their personal and philanthropic vision wherein they may honor the legacy of Harivansh Rai Bachchan while contributing to the social and cultural development of the city.
